It repairs ordinary playback, power, and title controls independently of trailer streaming.Required Apple TV settings: Settings → AirPlay and HomeKit → Allow Access → Anyone on the Same Network, with Require Password turned on. Cinedex saves this password only in its private profile on the companion PC so trailers can start without repeated setup.

Import CSV, tab-separated text, JSON, or an existing legacy iTunes XML export. Apple does not provide apps with a complete list of purchases, so begin with any export you have or add a few favorite titles manually. Each episode needs its own record.

Voice commands

Use one Siri Shortcut for every TV Companion command. Siri will ask what you want and TV Companion will do it on the selected Apple TV.

Set up “Siri, TV Companion”
  1. Tap Open Shortcuts, tap +, and name the shortcut TV Companion.
  2. Add Dictate Text. Set its prompt to “What would you like TV Companion to do?”
  3. Add URL, then paste the endpoint copied below.
  4. Add Get Contents of URL. Set Method to POST. Under Headers add Authorization and paste the private header copied below. Under Request Body choose JSON, add a Text field named command, and insert the Dictated Text variable as its value.
  5. Add Get Dictionary Value, choose the key spoken, then add Speak Text.
  6. Run it once, allow Local Network access, then say “Siri, TV Companion.”
iOS requires you to approve and save a Shortcut; TV Companion cannot silently install one. Keep the private header secret. The PC must be awake and all devices must be on the same private network.
